Privacy Policy

Overview

SynonymHive (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates SynonymHive.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

We built SynonymHive to be a simple word reference tool. We do not require accounts, and we collect as little personal information as we reasonably can to run the Site and keep it free.

Information we collect

We collect information in a few limited ways:

  • Information you provide directly. If you contact us through our contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically log some technical data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the Site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies for basic site functionality and, where enabled, analytics and advertising. See the “Cookies and tracking” section below.

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as financial, health, or government ID data.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content
  • Respond to messages sent through our contact form or by email
  • Understand how visitors use the Site, so we can improve our word lists and site speed
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
  • Show relevant advertising, where advertising is enabled on the Site

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to remember basic preferences, understand aggregate traffic patterns, and, if advertising is enabled, to support ad delivery and measurement.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies entirely or clear them after each visit, though this may affect how some parts of the Site work.

If you are in a region that requires an explicit cookie consent banner (such as the EU or UK), add a consent management tool (for example, CookieYes or Complianz) to the Site so visitors can accept or decline non-essential cookies before they load.

Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to run SynonymHive. These providers may collect information as described in their own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics. Helps us understand how visitors use the Site (pages viewed, time on site, general location). Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense. If enabled, may display ads and use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Learn more in Google’s Ads Policy.
  • Hosting provider. Our hosting provider, [YOUR HOSTING PROVIDER], processes standard server logs to keep the Site running.

[Edit this list to match exactly what you use, remove anything that does not apply, and add anything missing, such as a newsletter tool, comment system, or CDN.]

Advertising

SynonymHive may display advertising through Google AdSense or similar ad networks to help keep the Site free to use. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ad Settings or aboutads.info.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site (analytics, hosting, ad networks), under their own privacy terms
  • Authorities, if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SynonymHive, our visitors, or others
  • A successor entity, if SynonymHive is ever acquired or merged, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to:

  • Request access to the information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of that information
  • Object to or limit certain processing, including for advertising
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (for California residents, under the CCPA)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children’s privacy

SynonymHive is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information you send to us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
